Keep Every Remote Edge Device Under Control
AVerMedia’s ERMI (Edge Remote Management Interface) solutions deliver secure, out-of-band manageability that reduces downtime and accelerates deployment.
What Is Out-of-Band (OOB) Management?
Out-of-Band (OOB) management is a remote device management technology that operates through a dedicated channel, independent of the host operating system. Even if the OS crashes, the container runtime fails, or network settings are broken, OOB ensures you can still control and recover devices.
Why OOB Matters
Edge deployments are often remote and hard to access. When systems crash or networks fail, downtime is costly. OOB management helps organizations:
- Recover devices remotely, even when the OS is unresponsive
- Lower mean time to recovery (MTTR) and reduce truck rolls
- Maintain business continuity with minimal disruption
- Centralize control for stronger security and compliance
What Is AVerMedia Edge Remote Management Interface (ERMI)?

To bring consistency and reliability to OOB management, AVerMedia developed the Edge Remote Management Interface (ERMI). Built on the Redfish® standard, ERMI delivers a lightweight, API-first framework with consistent endpoints for power control, firmware updates, console access, system health monitoring, event subscription, and more.
Key Features of ERMI
Operational Controls
- Remote power control
- Remote console access
System Configurations
- API support for ERMI firmware updates
- Virtual media mounting for BSP updates
Security and Monitoring
- User management
- Device Health Monitoring
Native API Support
- Standardized and vendor-neutral Redfish API
- Developer-friendly
- Easy integration with existing tooling
ERMI Architecture Overview
ERMI is structured into three layers to make OOB management consistent, scalable, and easy to integrate.

Device Layer:
ERMI firmware and daemon are multi-platform compatible. They can run on NVIDIA Jetson, Qualcomm, or x86/ARM systems.Control Layer:
The ERMI API, built on Redfish®, acts as a secure, unified control plane for power management, firmware updates, health monitoring, and more.Access Layer:
Edge devices can be accessed and controlled remotely via the ERMI Local Management Portal (developed by AVerMedia), a partner’s own portal, or directly via API integration.
Solutions for Every Partner
We deliver ERMI in three forms to serve the entire ecosystem:
For IHVs –
ERMI Controller Bundle
MCU + Flash chips to embed native OOB manageability into hardware platforms.
For SIs –
ERMI Module
A ready-to-integrate module for quick enablement of OOB capabilities.
For ISVs –
ERMI API
A Redfish-based API framework to build manageability into orchestration tools and applications.
ERMI in Action
See how our partner, Cogniteam , leverages the ERMI API in their portal to deliver a more complete and seamless control experience.
Built with Partners, Built for Scale
Our access layer is co-developed with trusted ISVs and orchestration partners. We also deliver flexibility and integration support at every layer, whether you are building a full platform or looking for a ready-made portal.
